Chabalala Chabalala was born and grew-up from the northern side of the Mountain Kingdom (aka The Kingdom in the Sky), Botha-Bothe; where he completed his COSC at St. Charles High School. He completed his B.Eng. degree in Computer Systems & Networks at The National University of Lesotho (NUL) in May 2007. He spent the whole year of 2007 (from Jan to Dec 2007) on internship at iThemba LABS - Cape Town; in the Electronics and Information Technology Group, working on the development of medical image processing software for cancer treatment and therapy. In January 2008, he joined the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science (MACS) at NUL as a Computer Science Demonstrator and (CISCO) Instructor, and curretly the CISCO Academy Success Lead - responsible for driving quality and sustainability for NUL. He pursued his MSc.Eng. in Computer Engineering in the School of Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Durban - South Africa; with the following research topic: "Cross-Layer Design (CLD) for Energy-Efficient Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs)."
The MSc.Eng reserach involved development of a cross-layer framework for energy-efficient routing in WSNs, which aimed to minimize the use of routing control packets to conserve energy for battery powered sensor nodes. The work exploited the interaction and interdependent share of information across PHY, MAC and NET layers to enhance energy-efficiency and performance of the standard DSR algorithm by using more stable and reliable routes for data transmission in WSNs communications.
